These beautiful arches seen on Lake Julius dam (1976) can be found by driving a 180km return trip on dirt road from the highway near Mt Isa, Queensland. As we were getting ready to head back a storm broke out which started turning the road to mush behind us.
As we plowed through puddles and two inches of mud I promised myself to always check the weather forecast. The rain didn’t ease but the road improved and we made it out.
We have since made it up to Bourketown in preparation for the 500km of dirt road into Borroloola, Northern Territory.
