There’s one thing I didn’t expect to find when I left Tasmania back in 2015 with my cat Willow on the road trip of a life time. But in 2016 in Perth, Western Australia, I found Stephanie.
She was quick to embrace my unusual living situation, and of course little Willow.
Since then, the three of us have had countless adventures together exploring Australia. Though we have dealt with long stretches apart we have only grown closer every day.
So, I discussed with little Willow the trajectory of our lives, and the possibilities, and I was given a non-opposable thumbs up.
Last week we spent the afternoon at Rainbow Beach swimming and cooking. After dinner I asked Steph if she wanted to go for a walk.
She said ‘I think I’ll give it a miss’.
I said ‘are you sure? I think you should come for a walk!’.
And so, eventually – by the sea – with the breaking waves cast in moonlight I asked – and she said yes to a life together!
Our lives go on, but now our hearts together always, and the adventure will never stop. And as for little Willow, well, she gets twice the cuddles!
