Between Portland and Warnambool lies the fishing town of Port Fairy. It was developed in the 1800’s as a whaling port. We visited on a Saturday morning and there were lots of people enjoying the cafes and market.
I saw the Pied Oyster Catchers hopping around the rocks looking for their lunch.
Meanwhile Willow decided it was time for a bath.
And then did her nails.
The walkway to Griffiths Island takes you to the lighthouse built in 1859 which is still in use. Though I suspect the solar panel was a more recent addition.
On the way back a young seal had decided to sit up on the pathway. She was loving the attention from passersby snapping photos and some of her poses put Willow to shame!
I was so grateful that I took my camera with me. She was the cutest thing ever! I got back to the van, gave Willow who had fallen asleep a few pats and then it was back on the road. Port Fairy. What a beautiful place!
